OUR STORY
THE ORIGINS
What led to C/COCA's birth?
C/COCA grew out of two needs we saw in Columbus: more opportunities for students interested in UX and better access to affordable, accessible websites for nonprofits.
01 / Humble Beginnings
OSU UX CLUB
In 2023, the Ohio State UX Club brought together students interested in user experience and began exploring ways to support nonprofits through website projects. C/COCA grew out of that work.
02 / Something Was Missing
MISSING PIECES
By 2024, the UX Club had built a strong community at Ohio State. But students at other Columbus-area schools were looking for similar opportunities, and the need for accessible digital services extended beyond one campus.
03 / The Hackathon That Helped
WHEN IT CLICKED
In October 2024, some of the founders met each other at a design for good design-a-thon. The hackathon made it clear students wanted real experience and nonprofits needed accessible digital support.
That moment became the starting point for something bigger.
04 / The Rebrand
AHA! THAT'S IT!
In 2025, the founders began exploring how the work could continue beyond a single student club. Student-led design agencies at other schools showed what was possible, and the team saw an opportunity to build something similar in Columbus.
05 / Today
IDEA TO IMPACT
Today, C/COCA brings together students across Central Ohio to work with nonprofits on websites and digital experiences while developing their research, design, and engineering skills.
WHAT'S NEXT?
C/COCA continues to expand its student teams, nonprofit partnerships, and professional development opportunities. Our goal is to make it easier for students to get involved and for local organizations to receive the digital support they need.
